2016 Upcoming movies

Three months till the end of the year but the 7th art still has some surprises. I could let you know about all the movies’ debuts but I’ve only gathered on Bande Annonce the top 5 of 2016 upcoming movies I can’t wait to watch. You have sci-fi, comedy, adventure, a psychological thriller, adventure, action and of course drama. Which of those are in yours movie’s list as well?

Movie previews:

Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children

From the visionary director Tim Burton comes Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children. The movie is based on best-selling novel and this time we won’t see Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter in it. Instead we’ll see Eva Green, Asa Buttefield (he has grown), Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson.  The plot is about a boy – Jake, who following some clues discovers alternate realities ends up discovering Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As he learns about the residents and their abilities, Jake realizes that safety is an illusion and enemies are everywhere. Jake must figure out who is real, who can be trusted, and who he really is.

I really look forward to watch this one. Considered a hero by some and a traitor by others, the truth is everyone has already heard about Snowden. Of course, sooner or later there would be a movie about his story. The Open Road film has been eagerly anticipated and it will stare Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden and Shailene Woodley as Snowden’s girlfriend, Lindsay Mills.

The Girl on the train

Directed by Tate Taylor and starring Emily Blunt, The Girl on the train is one of the most awaited movies this year. Based on the psychological thriller novel by British author Paula Hawkins, the plot is about a woman, Rachel, who train every morning and night. Everyday she sees a particular couple on their deck and she starts feeling like she knows them already. One day, everytjing changes in a single minute and from that point on Rachel becomes deeply involved in the fact that involved that couple. Will that be a positive thing? Let’s wait to see.

Assassin’s Creed

Assassin’s Creed is an upcoming action adventure film based on the video game franchise of the same name. It is directed by Justin Kurzel and written by Michael Lesslie, Adam Cooper and Bill Collage and stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. The film will be set in the same universe as the video games but features an original story that expands the series’ mythology.

A spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet and transporting thousands of people has a malfunction in its sleep chambers. As a result, two hibernation pods open prematurely and the two people that awoke (Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt) are stranded on the spaceship, still 90 years from their destination. Passengers is an upcoming 2016 American romantic science fiction adventure film directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Jon Spaihts.

I hope all the movies debut here in Portugal until the end of the year because some of them are only expected to debut in US in December, so it will be down to the wire.
